La tecnología de alimentación a través de Ethernet (PoE) permite suministrar simultáneamente energía y datos por medio de un cable de red, simplificando la instalación y ahorrando en costos.
La IEEE ha publicado 3 estándares PoE que regulan la cantidad de potencia suministrada a los dispositivos alimentados.
